WORLD MILK DAY

World Milk Day is celebrated on June 1st each year to emphasize the significance of milk as a nutritional powerhouse. Established by the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 2001, this day aims to raise awareness about the role of milk in our diets and promote sustainable dairy farming.

Milk is a staple food for people worldwide, providing essential nutrients such as calcium, protein, and vitamins. These nutrients are crucial for growth and development, especially in young individuals. Additionally, milk contributes to bone health and may reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

World Milk Day also recognises the hard work of farmers and producers who ensure a safe and sustainable milk supply. By supporting dairy industries and making informed choices about our consumption, we contribute to our own nutrition and the well-being of our communities.

At VFMA Accredited Farmers Markets, you’ll find fresh milk and an array of delightful products made from milk, including cheese, yogurt, butter, and cream. When you choose these products, you directly support our dedicated farmers who prioritise sustainability and quality.
